The British Values

  • Democracy

At Busy Bees we are a free flow setting, children decide independently where they want to play and we give children the option to choose which activities.

Children are encouraged to respect each other’s decisions and discuss how children feel.

If there’s some children that cannot verbally communicate the setting will use a combination of picture cards and gestures.

`Staff help children to identify their emotions and talk about reasons for how they are feeling and help them to be able to manage their feelings in a positive way.

Busy Bees is a community where everyone is valued the same and we work to form relationships within our community without discrimination.

  • The Rule of Law

At Busy Bees we focus on promoting positive behaviour and have ‘The golden rules’ to create a safe enabling environment. These rules are created with the children as they apply to everyone.

We work with the children to understand their own and others’ behaviour and its consequences and help them to distinguish right from wrong by promoting ‘the rule of law’.

  • Individual Liberty

At Busy Bees we teach the children that their voice and their own feelings matter and understand that they are free to have different opinions.

We focus on building children's self-confidence and self-awareness and people and communities. We provide opportunities for risk taking to develop their own abilities.

We offer a range of experiences that allow children to explore the language of feelings and responsibility, reflect on their differences, understand everyone is free to have different opinions and to develop a positive sense of themselves.

  • Mutual Respect and Tolerance

At Busy Bees we encourage children to treat others how you would like to be treated and learning to understand and appreciate each other’s differences.

Our environment is inclusive, respectful, values faiths, cultures and races.

Children learn different faiths, cultures and festivals both within our Pre-School and further afield as well as learning about others and the world around them.
