Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm, this means protecting children from abuse and maltreatment, preventing harm to children’s health or development, ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.

At Busy Bees Pre-School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and development of all children. A child’s wellbeing is always put first.

All staff attend safeguarding training and work in line with policies and procedures that follow relevant new legislation or initiatives that maintain a focus upon the safety and wellbeing of all children.

Everyone has a duty to safeguard children, we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share our commitment.

If you’re worried that a child or young person is at risk or is being abused please share your concerns with one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) as soon as possible.

If your concerns relate to a member of staff, then you should refer this to one of the DSLs in confidence who will consider what action to take.

You can also contact First response on 01332 641172 to discuss your concerns.

If a child is at immediate risk call 999 or call the police on 101 if you think a crime has been committed.
